At the New York car show in April 2009, the German company Audi presented the world with a new convertible A5 with a soft convertible top, which received the factory designation "8F7".
In 2011, the car was updated along with its "brothers" in the family - the exterior was "refreshed", the interior was slightly improved and the power line, suspension and steering were revised.
The exterior of the Audi A5 Cabriolet, decorated in the "family" style of the brand, looks beautiful and elegant, and the fit and sporty silhouette conceals rather large dimensions. Well, the decisive design element is the soft top, which, when unfolded and hidden, allows the car to stand out from the crowd.
In terms of its overall dimensions, the "five" in the body of the convertible belongs to the European class "D" - 4626 mm in length, 1383 mm in height and 1854 mm in width. The two-door has a 2751mm wheelbase and 120mm underbody clearance. In "combat" form, the mass of the car varies from 1605 to 1850 kg, depending on the version.
The interior of the Audi A5 convertible is borrowed from the five-door liftback without significant changes - a stylish, pleasing look and maximum visual design, combined with the highest build quality and selected finishing materials.
The interior of the car is organized according to the "2 + 2" formula, where the rear sofa is molded for two people. But the front riders are in a more advantageous position - they are equipped with comfortable seats of the optimal shape with heating and electric adjustments.
Unlike most rivals, the Audi A5 Cabriolet offers a full 380 liters of luggage space (the soft top takes up just 60 liters), which is expanded to a decent 750 liters by folding the backrests of the second row of seats. The roof goes into the "hold" in just 15 seconds, and the reverse process takes 2 seconds longer (and all this can be done at speeds up to 50 km / h).
Specifications. "Five-cabriolet" is equipped with the same engines as the A5 Sportback, however, it does not put on a 1.8-liter 144-horsepower unit. Under the hood of the car, you can find in-line four-cylinder installations and a V-shaped six-cylinder engine with direct injection, which, with a volume of 1.8-3.0 liters, produce 177-272 "horses" and 320-400 Nm of ultimate thrust.
In the arsenal of transmissions - "mechanics" for six gears, a continuously variable variator Multitronic and a "robot" with seven ranges.
There are two types of drive for two-doors - front or permanent full quattro.
In terms of "nimbleness", the Audi A5 Cabriolet is slightly inferior to the liftback: from 0 to 100 km / h, it "fires" after 6.3-8.7 seconds, the speed gain stops only after reaching 223-250 km / h. The car consumes no more than 6.7-8.5 liters of fuel for each mixed "hundred" track.
Technically, the convertible is identical to the Sportback: a universal MLB bogie, an independent multi-link on both axles, a rack and pinion steering gear with an electromechanical power amplifier and circular disc brakes, complemented by modern technologies.
Options and prices. The Audi A5 Cabriolet is delivered to Russia in one "basic" configuration, the prices for which start at 2,440,000 rubles. In terms of standard and optional equipment, the convertible has practically no differences from the five-door liftback.
