Peugeot 2008 is a front-wheel drive subcompact crossover that boasts a striking and stylish design, modern technical "stuffing" and a rich set of options. It is addressed, first of all, to urban residents (regardless of gender and age) keeping up with the times, who are not used to sitting in one place, but prefer active pastime ...

The official premiere of the second generation Peugeot 2008 took place on June 19, 2019 during a virtual show, and after a few months its sales on the European market began. After the "reincarnation", the car radically changed outside and inside, enlarged in size and received a bunch of new options, and borrowed the aggregate base without any significant changes from the second generation 208 hatchback.

Outside, the “second” Peugeot 2008 looks beautiful, bright, harmonious and charismatic, and its brutality is not to be occupied with - a predatory “physiognomy” with a piercing gaze of lighting technology, a “volumetric” radiator grille and a powerful bumper, a dynamic silhouette with a dropping roof line, embossed “ folds "on the sidewalls and" muscular "wheel arches, graceful stern with stylish lanterns, a large trunk lid and a compact bumper.

Size and weight

The SUV is 4300 mm long, of which the distance between the wheelsets extends to 2605 mm, the width does not exceed 1770 mm, and the height reaches 1530 mm.

The curb weight of the five-door is from 1263 to 1310 kg, depending on the modification.

Interior

Inside, the second generation Peugeot 2008 greets its occupants with a spectacular i-Cockpit concept - a fully digital "toolbox" that hangs over a raised multifunction steering wheel with a beveled top and bottom rim, sticking out 10-inch (in simple versions - 5- or 7-inch) a media system screen, a minimalist center console with aviation keys lined up in a row.

In addition to this, the crossover can boast of exceptionally high-quality finishing materials - pliable plastics, artificial or natural leather, Alcantara, carbon-look inserts, etc.

The interior of the subcompact SUV has five seats, and a sufficient supply of free space is promised in both rows. At the front, there are ergonomic chairs with a raised profile, a large number of adjustments and heating. At the back there is a comfortable sofa, an almost flat floor and a minimum of additional amenities (USB connectors, folding armrest, heaters).

With practicality, Peugeot 2008 is in complete order: its trunk not only has an almost perfect shape, but also can hold up to 434 liters of luggage in normal condition.

The second row of seats folds down into an almost flat area in a 60:40 ratio, which increases the cargo volume to 1,467 liters.

Specifications

In the Russian market for the second generation Peugeot 2008, an exclusively three-cylinder 1.2-liter Puretech gasoline engine with an aluminum block and a cylinder head, turbocharging, direct injection, phase shifters at the inlet and outlet and a 12-valve timing is announced, which is available in two power options:

  • 130 h.p. at 5500 rpm and 230 Nm of peak thrust at 1750 rpm.

In both cases, the drive is exclusively front, however, the "junior" version is combined only with a 6-speed "mechanics", and the "senior" option also relies on a 6-band hydromechanical "automatic".

Dynamics, speed and consumption

Design features

The second "release" of Peugeot 2008 is based on a compact modular "bogie" CMP (Common Modular Platform) with a transverse engine and a monocoque body made with extensive use of high-strength grades of steel.

At the front, the car is equipped with an independent MacPherson-type suspension, and at the rear, a semi-independent architecture with a torsion beam (in both cases, with anti-roll bars).
