At the New York International Auto Show (which opened its doors to visitors in early April 2015), Cadillac brought its flagship innovation of that year - a full-size sedan with the alphanumeric name “CT6”, which topped the lineup of the premium American brand.

Designed almost from scratch, this car is designed to compete with such world giants as Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8 and BMW 7-Series. He is able to boast: progressive technology, spectacular design and a wide range of modern equipment.

By the way, its premiere clearly took place "in a hurry", as evidenced by the fact that serial production started only in January 2016 (at a plant in Detroit), and it reached the market in March ... while already in July of the same year before the public presented an updated version of the three-volume - which got: minor external changes, an improved multimedia complex and new body paint colors.

The exterior of the Cadillac CT6 contains all the "family" features of the American brand, but the flagship inclinations can be traced in it instantly - the car looks gorgeous, graceful and incredibly beautiful.

At the front, the sedan looks at the world with spectacular lighting technology with futuristic "blades" of the running lights, encircling the chrome "shield" of the radiator grill, and at the back it flaunts "faceted" forms with beautiful lanterns and a quartet of exhaust pipes.

The high status of the "American" is emphasized by the classic "limousine" silhouette with a long hood, expressive "sides" and graceful wheel disks.

The overall dimensions of "ST6" fully and completely correspond to the parameters of the F-class: 5184 mm in length, which includes 3109 mm wheelbase, 1472 mm in height and 1879 mm in width. In the "stowed" state, the car weighs from 1659 to 1853 kg, depending on the modification.

The interior of the Cadillac CT6 attracts attention with its luxurious design, an abundance of modern "bells and whistles" and an exquisite combination of high-quality finishing materials (genuine leather, expensive woods, aluminum, carbon fiber and quite a bit of soft plastics). The digital instrument cluster looks smart and provides a wealth of information, and the imposing steering wheel is highly functional. On the presentable center console, the emphasis is placed on the 10.2-inch touchscreen of the infotainment complex, and the climate control is placed in a separate block with mainly touch buttons.

The driver and front passenger in the American sedan are provided with luxurious seats with a well-developed profile and electric adjustment (optionally also with ventilation, heating and massage function).

In the rear seats, there are two separate adjustable seats with a large supply of vital space and an armrest in the center (for an additional charge, an individual "climate", a massager and a multimedia center with two 10-inch monitors are still available).

The cargo compartment of the Cadillac CT6 is quite roomy (although it does not pretend to be a record) - in the "stowed" form it takes up to 433 liters of luggage. A niche is organized under the raised floor, which contains a compact spare wheel and a standard set of tools.

Specifications. For the flagship Cadillac ST6, three gasoline engines have been prepared, which do their job in conjunction with an 8-band automatic transmission. In the "younger" version, the car is equipped with driving wheels of the rear axle, and the rest relies on an automatically activated all-wheel drive system with a multi-plate clutch, which controls the supply of traction to the front axle.

  • As a standard, the engine compartment of the Cadillac CT6 is "filled" with a 2.0-liter inline "four" with variable valve timing technology, a twin-scroll turbocharger, 16-valve timing, forged crankshaft and direct fuel supply, generating 265 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 400 Nm maximum torque at 3000-4500 rpm.
  • The intermediate modification of the big sedan is a naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter LGX engine with six V-shaped cylinders, an aluminum block with a head-mounted exhaust manifold, direct petrol injection and variable valve timing, which in certain conditions approaches the Atkinson cycle. Its recoil counts 335 "horses" at 6800 rpm and 385 Nm of torque at 5300 rpm.
  • And finally, the most "powerful" versions of the four-door are equipped with a 3.0-liter V-six with two low-inertia turbochargers, a direct injection system, an intercooler integrated into the intake manifold, variable valve timing and a start / stop system. The "top" motor generates peak 404 "mares" at 5700 rpm and 542 Nm of potential at 2500-5100 rpm. The starting "jerk" to the first "hundred" of the 404-horsepower Cadillac CT6 is within 5.7 seconds, and the "ceiling" of its capabilities falls on 240 km / h. In the combined driving mode, the car requires 9.6-9.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. But the characteristics of less productive modifications have not yet been announced.

ST6 is based on a new platform, which assumes a classic layout (engine in front, drive wheels in the back). An independent "multi-link" with aluminum components is installed on the front axle of the car, and a five-link system with pivoting devices and the effect of "dynamic wheelbase" is installed at the rear. In "standard" the sedan is equipped with Magnetic Ride Control adaptive shock absorbers with magnetorheological fluid through which electric current flows. At the base of the "American" body there are 13 high-pressure aluminum castings (in general, the share of "winged metal" accounts for 64%, including hinged panels are made of it), and in total 11 different materials are used in the structure - from steel high-strength grades to polymers.
By default, the Cadillac CT6 is equipped with a rack and pinion steering system, which includes an electric power steering with variable characteristics. Regardless of the version, on all wheels of the three-volume there are ventilated discs of the brake system, supplemented by ABS, EBD, Brake Assist and many other auxiliary "gadgets".

Options and prices. In the Russian market, the Cadillac CT6 is sold exclusively with a 335-horsepower engine and an all-wheel drive transmission in two versions - "Luxury" and "Platinum".

  • For the basic configuration of the sedan, they ask for a minimum of 3,990,000 rubles.
    She can boast: eight airbags, dual-zone "climate", leather trim, virtual instrument cluster with an 8-inch screen, ventilation and electric front seats, heated both rows of seats, a multimedia complex with a 10.2-inch display, panoramic roof, full LED optics, 19-inch wheels and a premium audio system with 10 speakers. In addition, the "base" includes: all-round cameras, active parking assistance technology, the ERA-GLONASS system, monitoring of "blind" zones and the darkness of other equipment.
  • The "top" version costs from 5,190,000 rubles, but it is also equipped with much richer (in addition to the above items).
    There are: adaptive suspension, four-zone climate control, 20-inch "rollers", electric drive and ventilation of the rear seats, night vision system with the ability to recognize pedestrians, infotainment center for rear passengers, induction charging for smartphones, high-class "music" Bose Panaray with 34 speakers and a lot of other goodies.
