The GAC Trumpchi GS5 is a front- or all-wheel drive mid-size crossover that combines a fairly attractive exterior and interior design, good technical "stuffing" and a decent level of equipment ... Its target audience is not limited by any strict framework - it includes both young people and couples and adults ...

Exterior

The first "release" of the GAC Trumpchi GS5 appeared before the general public in the fall of 2011 as part of the international auto show in Guangzhou, and in April 2012 it started selling in China.

In 2014, the car underwent a small update, as a result of which it was slightly transformed outside and inside, "armed" with a turbo engine in tandem with a robotic gearbox and received the prefix "S" (that is, "Super") to the name.

The exterior of the GAC Trumpchi GS5 is tailored in a modern style, and its body is endowed with elegant and dynamic proportions, supported by stylish lighting, expressive ribs on the sidewalls and chrome decor.

The length of the crossover from the Middle Kingdom is 4750 mm, height - 1690 mm, width - 1854 mm. The wheelbase of the car is 2710 mm, and the clearance under the bottom does not exceed 190 mm. In the equipped condition, the weight of the "GS5" ranges from 1560 to 1640 kg.

Interior

The interior of the crossover looks unusual, but quite modern, and in addition is finished with high-quality materials. The most noticeable elements are instruments placed in the "wells", a four-spoke steering wheel with controls and a center console with a large color display and a "climate" panel with an individual scoreboard.

The crossover welcomes riders with all the hospitality - comfortable front seats with well-thought-out molding and side bolsters and a cozy “gallery” sofa that can easily accommodate three people.

The trunk in standard condition is designed to carry 480 liters of cargo, and with the rear back folded down - 1350 liters. Under the "raised floor" of the cargo compartment, the "spare wheel" and the jack are neatly placed, there are niches for the tool and other "rarely used small things".

Specifications

For the first generation GAC Trumpchi GS5, two four-cylinder in-line gasoline engines with direct injection and 16-valve DOHC timing are offered:

  • the basic version - "aspirated" with a working volume of 2.0 liters, producing 147 horsepower at 6300 rpm and 187 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm;
  • The top-end versions are based on a 1.8-liter turbocharged unit, the potential of which is 177 hp. at 5250 rpm and 242 Nm of torque at 1700-5250 rpm.

The "junior" motor is by default combined with a 5-speed "mechanics" and a front-wheel drive transmission, and as an option it can be docked with a 5-speed "automatic". At the same time, the "senior" engine works in conjunction with either a 7-band "robot" DCT with dual clutch and drive wheels of the front axle, or with an automatic transmission with five gears and an all-wheel drive system (with a multi-plate clutch that connects the rear wheels).

The Trumpchi GS5 is based on an Alfa Romeo 166 bogie, sporting fully independent suspension with steel springs and anti-roll bars: a double wishbone system at the front, a multi-link at the rear. The car is equipped with a rack-and-pinion steering with hydraulic booster, and disc brakes (ventilated at the front) are used on all its wheels, supplemented by ABS and EBD.

Options and prices

In the Chinese market, the "first" GAC Trumpchi GS5 is sold at a price of 116,800 to 196,800 yuan (as of 2018), while it has never been officially supplied to Russia.

The basic configuration of the crossover includes: two airbags, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, ABS, EBD, fog lights, a four-speaker audio system, power windows for all doors, heated and electrically adjustable mirrors, central locking and some other options.
