The fourth generation of compact (three- and five-door) hatchbacks "Fiesta" officially debuted in 1995, at the same time they went on sale.

In 1999, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the American manufacturer presented an updated car, which received a new appearance, made in the style of the New Edge, but still remained the "fourth".

In addition, as a result of restyling "Fiesta" acquired a corrected interior, and a new power unit was registered under its hood. The hatch was produced until 2002, after which it was replaced by a fifth generation model.

As we have already noted, the fourth generation of the Ford Fiesta B-class hatchback was presented with modifications with three or five doors.
Regardless of the version of the body, the length of the car is 3828 mm, height - 1320 mm, width - 1634 mm, wheelbase - 2446 mm, and under the bottom it has a 140 mm clearance to the roadway.
The curb weight of the car is from 924 to 1465 kilograms.

Both gasoline and diesel engines were placed under the hood of the 4th generation "Fiesta".

  • The hatchback was equipped with gasoline four-cylinder "aspirated" families of Enduro and Zetec SE with a volume of 1.25-1.4 liters, generating from 50 to 90 horsepower and from 95 to 125 Nm of torque.
  • There was a 1.8-liter diesel unit in the "arsenal", which had 60-75 "horses" and 106-175 Nm at its disposal.
  • In 1999, the power range of the car was replenished with a new version - a 1.6-liter 103-strong "four" with a return of 145 Nm.

In tandem to the motors, a 5-speed "mechanics" or a continuously variable CVT were separated.

The "fourth Fiesta" is based on the Ford B platform, to which the wheels are attached to the front axle by means of an independent suspension with MacPherson struts, and the rear - a semi-independent structure with a torsion beam.
The steering mechanism of the car is supplemented by a hydraulic booster, disc brakes are involved in the front, and drum brakes at the rear.

The advantages of the 4th generation Ford Fiesta are affordable cost, low-cost maintenance, reliability, unpretentiousness, high-torque and economical engines, fine handling and a roomy interior.
The hatchback's disadvantages include a stiff suspension, a highly corroded body and a low level of sound insulation.
