The Chinese carmaker Changan is just beginning to seriously expand on the Russian market, its "local" model range is not yet large. In addition to the two "first-borns" - sedans, the Chinese also sell in Russia the "urban SUV" Changan CS35, with which, in fact, they pin their main hopes.
But the Chinese have very ambitious plans, which means that the car must be appropriate. However - is it so?
From an aesthetic point of view, Changan CS35 is quite good, since the Chinese did not work on the appearance of the crossover alone, but in a company with Italian designers. But at the same time, despite the excellent dynamism of the exterior, the design of the novelty is oversaturated with conspicuous details, the Chinese were painfully striving to please customers and highlight their offspring on the road.
Judge for yourself, the car received an original radiator grill that fits onto the hood; curvy front and rear optics; sports bumpers with a mesh air intake at the front; stylish fog lights; dynamic stamping along the body profile; ascending sill line, smoothly turning into the rear side glass, inscribed in the pillar; a spoiler on the tailgate and an original rear window with an eye-catching profile.
In terms of dimensions, the Changan CS35 is very compact. The length of its body is only 4160 mm, the length of the wheelbase fits into the frame of 2560 mm, the width of the crossover does not exceed 1810 mm, and the height rests against the mark of 1670 mm. The CS35's ground clearance is 180 mm, which is quite acceptable for city conditions. The curb weight of the subcompact crossover is 1345 or 1365 kg, depending on the configuration.
The five-seater salon Changan CS35 is well-decorated, neat and modern. In the basic version, fabric and soft plastic are abundantly used for decoration, and in the "top" versions, artificial leather is used as seat upholstery.
No one should have any special complaints about the ergonomics of the front panel, but in general, the interior is far from ideal, and first of all it concerns free space, which is especially lacking in the back.
In addition, the crossover seats turned out to be rather mediocre, on which you will not feel much comfort on long trips. The negative picture is complemented by weak noise isolation, so the music will have to be made louder or you will have to "enjoy" the howling of the checkpoint.
The trunk of the Changan CS35, for a car of similar dimensions, is good enough and can hold up to 337 liters of cargo in standard condition or 1251 liters with the rear row of seats folded down.
Specifications. There is only one engine for the Changan CS35, but two gearboxes are prepared: a 5-speed "mechanics" and a 4-band "automatic".
Under the hood of the crossover is a 1.6-liter engine of the BlueCore family, developed by the British design division of the Chinese automaker. The engine is made of aluminum, has four in-line cylinders with a total volume of 1598 cm³, is equipped with electronically controlled multipoint injection, fully meets the requirements of the Euro-4 environmental standard, and its maximum power is 113 hp. or 83 kW at 6000 rpm. The peak torque of this motor is 152 Nm and is available in the range from 4000 to 5000 rpm.
In the case of aggregation of the power plant with a manual transmission, the average fuel consumption is declared at 6.8 liters, and when the automatic transmission is installed, it rises to 7.2 liters for every 100 km. As for the dynamics of acceleration, the first hundred on the speedometer Changan CS35 is gaining in 14.0 seconds in the version with "mechanics" and in 15.0 seconds in the version with "automatic". The maximum travel speed in both cases is 180 km / h.
The Changan CS35 crossover is built on a front-wheel drive platform, so the all-wheel drive system is not even available as an option, which, undoubtedly, can be attributed to the obvious disadvantages of the novelty, hoping for serious competition with other representatives of the class. The front suspension of the Changang CS35 crossover is completely independent, based on MacPherson struts and an anti-roll bar. At the back, the Chinese installed a semi-independent torsion beam with coil springs. All wheels use disc brakes, while the front is also ventilated. In addition, the dual-circuit braking system is complemented by ABS, BAS and EBD, as well as a mechanical parking brake. The steering of the novelty is rack and pinion, supplemented by an electric booster.
Options and prices. In the Russian market, Changan CS35 2016-2017 is sold in two trim levels - "Comfort" and "Luxe". For the basic version they ask for a minimum of 747,900 rubles, and for the "top" version - 784,900 rubles (the surcharge for the "automatic machine" in both cases is 86,000 rubles).
As a standard, the crossover is equipped with two front airbags, a radio with six columns, ESP, power windows for all doors, ABS, EBD, heated front seats, air conditioning, electric and heated mirrors, 16-inch wheel disks, fog lights and power steering.
The maximum "packed" version is complemented by side airbags (their total number reaches six pieces), an electric sunroof, a multifunction steering wheel, leather interior trim, "cruise", a 12-volt outlet, light-alloy "rollers" measuring 17 inches and some other relevant " gadgets ".
